Wishing a new woodpecker well!

It’s not often we get to see a woodpecker just out of its cozy tree cavity.  But thanks to Peggy Honda, an observant and protective photographer here in Southern California, we can enjoy one youngster’s first lessons on safety and foraging from its attentive parent.  The first year is a tough one for any bird!  The future of some other cavity-nesters may hinge on this single Nuttall’s Woodpecker because of the new nesting real estate it can create!   Wish him well and please help to protect his relatives!
